Hurraaaaarrgh! After carefully deciding which scent to try, you place your order. Our huamingcandle elves hand-poured their love, wrapped them up and sent them to you, and now that they've arrived, it's time to get excited
Our candles are more than wax and spices. From packaging to fragrance, we've crafted them to allow you to experience enchanting moments at home and be immersed in a dreamlike state, so why not turn it into an experience?
When opening the candle case and seeing the candle for the first time, take a moment to admire the beautiful tin or glass, wood carved lid (if you're buying a deluxe edition), as well as the label art and fragrance description.
We write descriptions to immerse you further in the story, so please read the text on the box and postcard to experience the world of that candle or collection.
We work with talented artists to ensure that each of our boxes is covered with unique custom art that tells a story. Whether streams and trails on dreamy maps or illustrated scenes of enchanted forests, seasonal celebrations and distant places, each artwork is filled with minute details from small animals to patterns and symbols. Take a closer look at them and see what you can find!
We suggest you play some music to make yourself comfortable and then slowly unpack. After opening the box, read the accompanying card to learn how to care for the candle.
Lighting candles for the first time
Now that you've smelled the candle and unwrapped it, it's time to light it for the first time. Here are our tips for when you first light up:
Trim the wick to ⅛ to ¼ inch
Burn in a well-ventilated area, away from vents and strong drafts
Look for a calm, steady flame (not too much flickering, high flame, or smoke)
How to smell a candle correctly
Creating the best scent involves creating multiple layers of scent, called "notes." When smelling the candle, see what scent layers you notice.
Top note
The top note is the first scent you smell and usually consists of light and fresh aromas, such as herbal or citrus aromas. The top notes will draw you into the scent and transition to the deeper middle and end notes.
Middle note
The middle note is the basis of the fragrance, makes up the majority of the perfume and is often referred to as the "heart note". Medium notes may include fruit, spices, black pepper and pine.
Tail note
The last tone contrasts sharply with the first. Instead of being fresh and uplifting, they have a richer, more complex depth. The undertones are usually woody or musky, and may include amber, patchouli, and sandalwood.
Storage:
Store candles in a cool, dry place to ensure they stay in top condition
Do not expose the candle to direct sunlight (this may cause it to fade)
Pay attention to the flame height - make sure it is not too high or out of control
Do not allow the cotton core to "swell", which means it has been burning for too long
Place on a non-flammable surface with space around and above
Keep the wax pool free of debris and wick debris to ensure clean, safe burning
If you light multiple candles at the same time (we love to mix scents!) , please space them at least 3 inches apart
Do not touch the wax while it is melting - the wax is very hot and may damage the uniform burning of the candle
Do not burn the candle completely - the base of the wax contains more essential oils (flammable), so burning it completely may cause a fire
Avoid prolonged burning - Do not burn our 8-ounce (or larger) candles for more than 4 hours at a time, and do not burn our 2-ounce candles for more than 2 hours at a time.
Avoid brief burning - you need to create a melt pool (the entire top of the candle is melted), which will prevent the so-called "tunnel effect" where the edges remain unmelted but the center melts inward
We recommend placing the candle in the refrigerator and removing the excess wax, which you can use in the wax heater as needed, or simply discard. Remember not to burn the candle completely, as this could cause a fire.
Now you are left with a beautiful jar or jar! It can be recycled, but why not use it?
